List of Universities Not Under ASUU (2023 Updated)

Where can I get the list of Universities Not Under ASUU? What are the Federal and State Universities Not Under ASUU in Nigeria? I will be sharing with you, the list of Universities not under ASUU in Nigeria.

No doubt the ASUU strike certainly affects Millions of Nigerian students, specifically, students schooling at Universities that follow the instruction of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

However, universities that are not under ASUU do not follow their instructions, meaning that these Universities students will be going to school while other students are at home, waiting for ASUU and the federal government (FG) to resolve an issue that started in 1999, and 2009.

These Universities not under ASUU are mostly privately owned since they do not depend on the Government for funding, which includes payment of Salaries and other Monetary assistance and therefore

Since the government isn’t responsible for funding, salary payments, etc, there really is no logical reason why they should be part of ASUU or participate in any of their striking actions.

A few years ago, the University of Nigeria, NSUKKA (UNN) and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), were the only federally owned University that was not part of ASUU. However, in 2019, both these federal universities joined ASUU, and right now, there’s no federal university that is not Under ASUU.

Reason for ASUU Strikes?

The federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) reached an agreement in 1999, and up till now, ASUU claims that this agreement has not been honoured completely by the Government.
