Firstly, all graduates of HND are to please note that currently, no university in Nigeria accepts direct admittance into Masters degree courses. In simple terms, HND graduates seeking to study any of the under-listed PG cprogrammes offered in AKSU must first apply for a PGD (postgraduate programme) and upon successfully completing the PGD programme can he or she become eligible to apply for Masters degree programmes in AKSU or any other state or federal university in Nigeria approved to run postgraduate programmes.

O’LEVEL RESULT

Candidates applying for a PG programme at AKSU must meet the following basic admission requirements amongst others.

A) Must have 5 O’Level credits including mathematics and English language and 3 other subjects relevant to their course of study.

NYSC DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE

To apply for a post graduate programme in AKSU, an NYSC discharge certificate is a must have, for those without one, a certificate of exemption from your institution is acceptable by AKSU. Candidates or applicants awaiting the completion of their NYSC programmes are not eligible to apply as they would not be considered for admission.

FIRST DEGREE

For candidates from universities you must have possessed a first degree with a minimum of second class upper and above to apply for a Masters degree programme in any course that is relevant to the course offered in your first degree.

Candidates or applicants with 3rd class and below or HND in any course must first go through PGD (postgraduate Diploma) programme and after successfully completing the PGD programme becomes eligible to apply for a Masters degree programme in Akwa Ibom State University.

Ph.D. Programme

  2. A Master’s Degree in Religious Studies or its variants from a recognized university, with a minimum CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale.
  3. Candidates who did not make up to 4.00 will be required to register for the M.Phil./Ph.D. programme. Such candidates must present two seminars and a research proposal for grading and must score a minimum CGPA of 4.0 before proceeding to the Ph.D., otherwise the M.Phil. Degree should be awarded upon the submission of a thesis. This thesis would be examined following the procedure of a Ph.D. thesis.
